Houston, we have a problem

12 april 2019 - Houston, Texas, Verenigde Staten

Day 30, April 2nd

This day was moving day, taking a flight from Phoenix to Houston where I would see my sister again after a full month of traveling on my own! After a few hours in the airplane we landed in Houston where the great quest of finding my sister began. We figured we were both in another building but luckily I could take a transfer to the other terminal where she was waiting on me. Together we had some starbucks to catch up (altough we would have a full week of that) and called an uber to go to our airbnb. We had some burgers from a local burger place and both fell asleep after the travel.

Day 31, April 3th

We had a late breakfast at Denny's which was a really nice very american breakfast. After that we went to the grocery store by uber to get some errands so we could eat breakfast and dinner at home. After that it was already really late so we made dinner and watched netflix on the huge tv in the airbnb.

Day 32, April 4th

This day we saw some real mummies at the Natural Science museum. They also had real dinosaurs and a lot of information about the aztecs and a little 'science' part. I think it was really interesting and worth the visit, too bad it already closed at 5 PM. We took the bus back to our airbnb after soaking up all this information and started to watch Outlander season 4 (which by the way is amazing!)

Day 33, April 5th

Because I made it a new goal to visit a lot of different hard rock cafes around the USA (and the world) we went to the hard rock cafe in Houston. We ate some burgers for lunch and went shopping with our good filled stomachs. Houston hasn't that much to offer if it comes to shopping but still enough for us to fill the day. After that we went to a macdonalds since I wanted Simone to taste the bacon and cheese loaded fries, and we weren't that hungry (the burgers from lunch were really big) so that with a drink would be more than enough for the both of us to finish the day.

Day 34, April 6th

A couple days before we saw that Houston also had a aquarium, I already visited some but every aquarium is different and got other things to give. It was a lot smaller than we thought it would be but we still had fun petting stingrays and watching sharks. They also had a ferris wheel in which you could overlook the city a bit. After the aquarium we went back into downtown Houston to get some icecream.

Day 35, April 7th

Since Houston is famous for being the hometown of NASA we went to the NASA space centre. Here they have a lot of information about the space missions, the researched and explain how a space missions works/ how astronauts live in space. They also have a big airbus outside that was used to transfer a kind of space shuttle through the air and explain a lot about spae in general. After the spae centre we went to Olive Garden, a popular italian restaurant in the USA.

Day 36, April 8th

We both woke up really late and decided that this day was our lazy chill day. We went outside for a walk to a park that was 20 minutes away so we wouldn't be inside the whole day and still see a bit of Houston. The park was nice, with a lot of squirrels and ducklings but also really warm since Texas is warm overall!

Day 37, April 9th

Since this was the last full day in Houston we would have we went to the Medical and Health museum. This museum turned out to be a lot smaller than we thought but it was still very informative and fun. We also bought a 'labpass' so we could do some laboratorium experiments. These experiments were very simular to what I did with my studies last year and it was fun to give Simone a better view of what I did in school. After the museum we went walking into the flower gardens that were nearby. And that was our last day in Houston!

Overal Houston was very fun and it was nice to see my sister again after a month of traveling alone. Fun to experience a big city together and see a bit of Texas. Altough I think Houston didn't have that much to offer aside from NASA. Next up: Austin, Texas!
